Provincial Funding Cuts – Our Communities at Risk

Make Your Concerns Known

Great news. Premier Doug Ford has reversed his government’s announced plan to cut funding for public health, land ambulances and childcare funding in 2019. This is an encouraging sign that he will respond when residents express their concerns about the impact of reductions in social programs. However, there are signs that proper funding for these important services may still be at risk in 2020 and beyond.

We encourage you to write to your MPP and to Premier Ford to let them know how important it is that plans to cut public health, land ambulances and childcare funding have been reversed because you value these services. Join with members of Ottawa City Council to let the Provincial Government know that there needs to be meaningful conversations with cities and communities to fully understand the impacts of any future funding reductions.

City for All Women Initiative (CAWI)

 We invite all women who wish to be formal members of CAWI to join us at our first Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday, June 11th, 6:30-8:30 PM, Councillor’s Lounge, 2nd Floor, City Hall, 110 Laurier W.

After 15 years as an informal network working in partnership with the City of Ottawa and a range of community organizations, CAWI is coming into its own. We invite all women and those who identify as women who wish to be formal members of CAWI to join us at our first AGM.

Upon your arrival at the registration table, you will be invited to sign a membership card stating your commitment to the values of CAWI:

· Women’s knowledge, work, time, rights and leadership are fully recognized and valued.

· Our diverse cultures, experiences and perspectives are honoured and viewed as an asset.
